Your Role at Cabot

Cabot Corporation has an exciting new opportunity for an Electrical Reliability Engineer to support our Franklin, Louisiana plant. The Engineer will investigate equipment problems and failures to find root causes and implement recommendations for equipment modifications and upgrades to improve plant performance and reliability. 

 

This role has overall responsibility for the site electrical integrity program, including management of the equipment inspection, knowledge in various voltages (37.5K, 4750V, 480V, 120/240V and 24V), testing program, performing equipment "end of life" assessments, and making recommendations for electrical grid, instrumentation repairs and replacements.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Investigate electrical/instrumentation equipment problems and design modifications to improve reliability, productivity and safety using failure analysis to determine root cause and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with electrical equipment repairs of stationary and rotating equipment’s motors, VFD’s and instrumentation by working with original equipment manufacturers, aftermarket suppliers, and outside repair shops.
  • Manage and monitor electrical/instrumentation project progress executed by company personnel or outside service providers.
  • Ensuring compliance with all electrical codes, standards, regulations and industry best practices (NFPA70, NEC, ANSI, OSHA).
  • Serves on special ad-hoc teams to address plant issues utilizing operations functional expertise and supports implementation of special programs or initiatives.
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Honeywell TDC, Experion DCS and Delta V
  • Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.
  • Provides technical support on capital projects to ensure that plant standards are followed, and reliable instrumentation is installed.
  • Coordinate the work of electrical and instrumentation contractors, depending on location.

What You Will Bring to Cabot

  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical and electronic testing techniques and procedures.
  • Strong wide-ranging technical skills in electrical/instrumentation systems.
  • Proven record of safe and effective work practices in an industrial environment.
  • Capable of developing and implementing tracking systems to support continuous improvement programs.
  • ARC flash trained/certified
  • Formal training in Root Cause Analysis
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • PLC programing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Reliability Engineering experience in a plant or manufacturing environment.
