Your Role at Cabot

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Sustainability Communications Manager to join the Corporate Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability team. The preference for this role is a hybrid arrangement working out of our Billerica, MA and/or Boston, MA office locations.

 

This newly created position will lead the strategic and tactical direction of Cabot’s Sustainability and Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) Communications as well as Cabot’s efforts to ensure awareness of industry leading focus on sustainability. This is an ideal role for an individual who is a self-directed thought leader who excels through a hands-on approach to building and advancing strategic sustainability communications. This position also offers widespread, cross-functional company interaction as a strategy partner to guide various function leaders and stakeholders on effective, consistent, and strategic sustainability messaging.

 

As an individual contributor, this role reports into the Global Sustainability Director with a close working relationship with the Corporate Communications and Business Segment Commercial and Marketing leaders.

 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • You will be responsible for global enterprise-wide internal and external sustainability communications that drive awareness for the Cabot’s sustainability efforts, progress and ambitions and will engage a broader audience in understanding how Cabot is connected to sustainability macrotrends.
  • This role will develop and implement strategic sustainability communication messages to various internal and external stakeholders and deliver results-focused communications plans to amplify the company’s ambition and clearly define its position(s) as a thought leader within the industry.
  • This role is expected to be a thought partner in developing creative content for branding and communicating Cabot’s sustainability initiatives, including the benefits of Cabot’s products offerings as it relates to a more sustainable future.
  • This role will manage the company’s production of the annual Sustainability Report design and publication and other communications focused on ESG disclosures.
  • You will be responsible for producing regular, compelling sustainability-related content for different audiences, both internal and external, including, but not limited to, presentations and stories related to sustainability programs and projects to meet our sustainability goals, priorities, and ambitions.
  • This role will manage reviews for sustainability content; and manage content on the sustainability section of Cabot’s website and intranet.
  • Serve as a key strategic advisor to Cabot leadership, among others, in the areas of global sustainability insights and best practices, as well as risks and opportunities as they relate to Cabot’s reputation.
  • This role will evaluate, prioritize, and assess different stakeholder groups, interests, and public information requirements to inform yearly reporting enhancements.
  • Lead ESG communication in the creation of content promoting sustainability policies and objectives to employees, suppliers, partners and customers with the purpose of driving engagement, reputation and delivery of sustainability.

What You Will Bring to Cabot

    • Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in communications, marketing or related field preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience developing and executing strategy for external/internal communications required.
    • Recent experience with external/internal communications in environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs and sustainability topics required.
    • Comfortable working in a global, matrixed organization across various time zones and geographies.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to interact with internal and external agencies as needed. Superior writing skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically PowerPoint.
    • Collaborative team player that is flexible, solution-oriented, and capable of articulating complex topics.
    • Must be comfortable working on a small team, in a fast-paced environment that requires ongoing management of multiple projects at one time.
    • Must be able to meet deadlines and work with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
